Companies aiming to minimize their environmental impact are prioritizing Scope 3 emissions—those generated across their entire value chain, including suppliers, contractors and transportation. Often the largest share of a business’s carbon footprint, these emissions present significant challenges, particularly for industries like manufacturing, food production, retail and shipping.
Single-use plastics, like bags, bottles, and packaging, are a common part of our daily lives. Unfortunately, their convenience comes with serious harm to the environment. Cummins is committed to doing its part to tackle plastic pollution.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) play an important role in communities around the world. WASH is one of the pillars of the Cummins Water Works program, which seeks to strengthen communities through sustainable water.

India has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070[i], a significant goal for a developing economy. However, coal-based energy production in India reached 80% in early 2024[ii]. As the world’s second-largest coal consumer, India faces the challenge of transitioning to sustainable energy. This paradox highlights India’s complexity in reducing its carbon footprint while supporting its 1.4 billion people as the third-largest energy consumer after China and the United States.
