Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) celebrated the grand opening of a new microgrid lab called the Power Integration Center (PIC) at their Power Systems facility in Fridley, Minnesota. The PIC is a state-of-the-art facility that allows for the configuration, integration, and testing of power system technologies including diesel and natural gas generator sets, photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, battery storage systems, fuel cells, transfer switches, switchgear, and system-level controls.
The legislation establishes key incentives for the development of both the technologies that will power the future and the infrastructure to support them.
Alonso Navarrete never intended to be an engineer. “I ended up in college kind of by accident,” he says. “My prime path was to go to the military. I prepared all through high school for that. I was in the JROTC and was doing training in El Paso, Texas.” When the military didn’t work out due to familial obligations, Alonso decided to stay close to home and attend New Mexico State University. There he studied engineering, a passion he first developed on his father’s farm.
Chris Scott lives with a higher purpose than self. As a Business Information Systems student at Tennessee State University (TSU), Chris served as a University Ambassador mentor and volunteered at his local Boys and Girls Club. He has long felt a calling to give back, to minority groups in particular. So, when he graduated, Chris planned to interview prospective employers that placed as much value on giving back as he did. When he attended the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Day at TSU and interviewed with Cummins Inc., he found such a place.

An author, blogger, mentor, pastor’s wife, volunteer, crossfitter and spartan racer, Brooks is more than a master of spreadsheets. And in June of 2021, she added one more title to her list of monikers — Cummins Inc. employee.
