Today, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) announced that, effective August 1, 2022, Tom Linebarger will end his term as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Jennifer Rumsey, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), will assume the role of President and CEO.

The Emission Solutions site in Germany designs and manufactures selective catalytic reduction (SCR) dosing systems, a critical part of the emissions controls for diesel engines. SCR doser technology is a key enabler for the performance and durability of SCR aftertreatment systems and has been a significant growth opportunity for Cummins over the last decade, with Cummins producing a record number of 954,000 aftertreatment systems in 2021. 

A masterstroke by Cummins engineers in Australia and the US has resulted in major cost reduction and environmental benefits for mining companies electing to rebuild their QSK60 engines under a special upgrade program. The engineers focused on rebuild possibilities for the early generation QSK60, and how it could be upgraded to the latest diesel technology at overhaul time with no major change to the base 60-litre V16 design – a feat that eluded other engine manufacturers.

Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) today released the company’s 19th annual Sustainability Progress Report, including Cummins’ first update on efforts to achieve the company’s 2030 environmental sustainability goals.  The report, which covers calendar year 2021, also looks at the many ways Cummins’ commitment to climate action is driving innovation, and a special section explores how Cummins’ Supply Chain organization overcame challenges in the global parts and transportation network that crippled many companies.

The company’s new report has much to say on reducing carbon, addressing racial and gender equity, and responding to a variety of other challenges, ranging from cybersecurity threats to the demands on supply chains in a pandemic. By comparison, Cummins’ first report in 2003 mentioned “economic climate” four times and “climate change” just once. “Race” and “gender” were specifically singled out only in a quote from longtime company leader J. Irwin Miller some two decades earlier. “Supply chain” received a single mention and “cybersecurity” was not discussed at all.

Recently, Cummins Inc. awarded Turning Point Domestic Violence Services a grant to expand the agency’s services and work toward the prevention and elimination of domestic and dating violence, specifically by increasing the shelter’s capacity.

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, an indigenous Canadian community on Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula, has accepted delivery of a new 19.81 by 7.31-meter (65 x24-foot) combination crab trap and groundfish trawler. The vessel was designed by NAVANEX and built by Chantier Naval Forillon, both of Gaspé, Quebec, Canada. Named Ugjit Mijua’ji’jg in the Mi’gmaw language, the name means “For Our Children”, a reference to the optimism that the community has for its continuing role in commercial fishery.
