The Cummins Foundation is issuing emergency grants to non-profits addressing the needs of families and children impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The grants are targeted in cities in which the company is a critical employer with a significant role in the prosperity of the community. 

“Check with each other more often, call or text them; and also remind each other to be careful,” suggests Richard Evelyn, a 24-year veteran Cummins Sales and Service Technician.  Richard lives in the New Jersey area and for the last 12 years has been helping nearby hospitals, schools, data centers and other businesses ensure their back-up power systems are well maintained and ready to operate if needed. 

This is a very difficult time for everybody, but make no mistake we will get through this together. COVID-19 continues to impact our lives in ways the previous disasters didn’t. Most notably, its broad spread and extended duration put tremendous strain on healthcare systems and highlight the importance of healthcare professionals as essential workers.

“It won’t surprise you that our employees have stepped up in every respect,” Linebarger told host Gerry Dick of the program Inside Indiana Business, which ran on various television stations in the state over the weekend.

Although the transportation fleet has not yet deployed, the customer was asked to prepare the buses for deployment. Altoona is relatively close to several east coast cities hit hard by the crisis. There was only one problem. The customer’s 60-bus fleet included eight ISX12 powered coach buses needing air compressor replacements and four more buses needing to be inspected and prepared for service.

Cummins (NYSE: CMI) has reached an agreement with 3M (NYSE: MMM) to manufacture high efficiency particulate filters for use in 3M’s Powered Air Purifying Respirators, or PAPRs.

The plant and canteen are partnering with a not-for-profit group to make the best of the COVID-19 crisis, delivering prepared lunches to vulnerable children. Here’s how it all came together. The canteen is operated by an outside supplier. It’s local manager and his staff have been working at the plant so long they are part of the plant family. As the plant implemented social distancing and work-from-home when possible, it became obvious the canteen should provide take-away service only.
