The Cummins Inc. Jamestown Engine Plant (JEP) isn’t only known for their engines that have powered fleets, businesses, and customers globally. It’s their dedication to environmental responsibility, particularly in their local community, that’s powering people’s motivation to recycle. On June 18, 2022, locals gathered at Jamestown Engine Plant for its annual Community Recycling Day. Some started arriving as early as 5:30 a.m., eager to safely dispose of the unwanted items they’d been storing.

Jithu has never owned a dog, but he recently agreed to dog-sit a seven-month-old Doberman for his friend.  “It’s important to try new things and to be there for friends - to lend a hand,” he says. “It goes a long way. Plus, we think we want a dog and we’re finding out if we can do a good job as owners.”  When asked what he’s learned so far about dogs he says, over a barking Doberman, “They’re a lot of work.”

In 2017, Cummins engineers and scientists set a record after receiving 287 patents from the United States and countries across the world. In 2020, 312 patents. By 2022, Cummins doubled our previous numbers, receiving a record of 623 global patents.

The diesel engine working principle was completed by the inventor, Rudolf Diesel, in 1892, and the first prototype was created in 1897. In the years following, he continued to work on improving his theory, and others soon realized the potential of this invention and started making their own versions. One of the people to recognize the importance of the diesel engine was Clessie Lyle Cummins.

For the past eight years, Cummins Inc. employee Matthew Davis has not only been building engines, but also has organized an Easter Toy Drive at Jamestown Engine Plant (JEP). Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI), through its affiliate Hydrogenics Europe N.V., has signed a contract to supply a 2.5-megawatt (MW) electrolyzer to Hysetco, a hydrogen mobility company owned by Total Energies, Air Liquide, Toyota, Kouros and others. The electrolyzer will enable local hydrogen production in Paris, France, to power Hysetco’s ambitious project, which aspires to develop and operate the world’s first large-scale hydrogen mobility platform that integrates hydrogen production, distribution and use.
