Every Alternative: Cummins Westport ISL G
The 8.9-liter ISL G has met EPA 2010 emissions standards since 2007 using Stoichiometric cooled-Exhaust Gas Recirculation (SEGR) spark-ignited combustion to create a high-performance natural gas engine. Torque at idle and fuel economy are improved versus lean-burn engines by 30% and 5%, respectively.
The X12 is designed to give weight-sensitive applications maximum payload. And at just 2,050 lbs., the X12 is at least 150 lbs. lighter than the lightest competitive 11L engine, yet it still delivers powerful performance from 350-500 HP and 1250-1700 lb-ft torque. With the response and power of larger displacement engines, the X12 delivers the performance drivers desire while maximizing efficiency for every job.
The X12 engine is an optimal choice for vocational and regional haul truck fleets that need maximum payload without compromising performance capability. Vocational ratings maintain a governed engine speed of 2000 RPM, which optimizes driving performance while allowing for greater flexibility in axle ratio and transmission selections. From soft surface to highway speeds, the X12 provides the performance needed to get the job done.
The 2024 X12 is focused on improved reliability, lower maintenance cost, better performance, while meeting more stringent EPA Greenhouse Gas standards. At just 2050 pounds, it has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any heavy-duty engine from 10 liters to 16 liters in size. The combination of power and efficiency is striking. With the response and power of larger displacement engines, the X12 delivers the performance drivers desire while maximizing efficiency for every job.
Cummins has been powering the fire service since 1937. The 2024 X12 engine was designed to serve the fire & emergency market, with a focus on improved reliability and better performance, while meeting more stringent EPA Greenhouse Gas standards. We’ve been able to optimize the existing technology we are experienced in, without the need for additional emissions equipment.
