We don’t walk to places like people once did. We use our cars to get to work, the store, a friend’s house, everywhere; as a result, fuel efficient vehicles are in high demand. But the demand reaches further than just your average car or truck. Cummins On-Highway customers want to improve their fuel economy too.

The Redefining Tour has been on the road for 33 days! Our trucks have rolled over a lot of pavement and cast their headlights on some exciting places in the first month of the tour. Let us break it down for you…

This past June, Mark Levett, Vice President - Corporate Responsibility, visited Mexico to learn more about how Cummins employees are leading improvement projects that are helping the region. Joined by Ignacio Garcia, Vice President of the Mexico ABO, Mark and other attendees got a first-hand look at Cummins Mexico’s corporate responsibility strategy and the projects taking place.

Ken Federle is the Executive Director of Research and Development at Cummins Emission Solutions. We recently caught up with him to ask about the new Single Module product for heavy-duty trucks and how the design was developed. Interviewer: The Single Module is a revolutionary product. Tell us a little about where the concept came from.

As the transportation industry shifts towards sustainable operations, a strong, reliable and extensive service network is essential for keeping vehicles on the road and fleets operating at peak performance. Service networks help fleets stay on the road faster and increase uptime (amount of time that a vehicle is available and operational for use) while also integrating advanced telematics and predictive maintenance to service fleets.

The piston is to an engine as a mother can be to a family. Each can be seen at the core of their unit’s functions, a heart pumping energy to keep their responsibility moving. Melinda F. is that, not only to her blood family but to the one she has fostered in a 26-year career on the manufacturing floor and in Operations Excellence at Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant (CMEP) in Columbus, Indiana.  As a result of her mother hen nature, character and attitude, much of the workforce at the plant refers to Melinda as ‘mom,’ even her own boss.

October may seem far away, but it’s never too early to make time for driver safety. The Cummins Corporate Health & Safety team will be hosting the second annual Road Safety Expo on Saturday, October 24. The event will take place at the Dorel Juvenile Group in Columbus, Indiana. The Corporate Health & Safety team has partnered up with multiple local businesses and nonprofit organizations for this event. A few of the organizations that will be present include: Miles Ahead Motoring School, the American Trucking Associations and the Juvenile Diabetes No Limits Foundation.

Biodiesel is one lower-carbon alternative fuel available for customers to integrate into their fleet’s engines today. It’s often referred to as a cleaner-burning alternative to that of petroleum diesel, created from renewable feedstocks, including vegetable oils, animal fats and used cooking oil. This lower-carbon fuel reduces emissions while maintaining similar performance characteristics to that of diesel.
