Over the years, the communication landscape in Jordan has evolved through many other firsts from Zain: It was the first Middle Eastern operator to launch MMS, mobile data services and infotainment solutions, and the first to introduce WAP connectivity, 4G/LTE and mobile banking in Jordan. 

The fluorescent light bounces off his plastic protective eyewear as he stands proudly on the shop floor, hands pocketed in his standard-issue Cummins jacket. The sprawling equipment and line of hybrid buses ready for maintenance seem to be calling to him.  Odaro Omusi, Electric Vehicle System Integration Specialist, smiles like he's gazing fondly into the past. To be sure, he remembers the details vividly.

While earthquakes are not uncommon in Alaska, the November tremor was the strongest to hit Alaska since 1964. It caused damage across the region – homes and buildings were damaged, roads and bridges were closed, fires erupted, and 32,000 people were left without power. To compound an already treacherous situation, the weather in Alaska in November can be unpredictable with temperatures frequently reaching subzero and only six to eight hours of daylight.

Fish companies from New Zealand to Russia (currently 24 large and ultra large Russian vessels) and Iceland to the USA as well as Greenland and now Canada have chosen the Norwegian firm Skipsteknisk when it comes time to design a new vessel. The firm has garnered a reputation for designing and overseeing the construction of vessels that integrate the most up to date technology from deck equipment to processing and stowage.

Fifteen volunteers organized by the Social Justice Sub-Committee of the company’s Indianapolis Community Involvement Team (CIT) assembled 260 winter survival kits on Jan. 23 at Cummins’ Distribution Business Headquarters. The kits were for the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) to distribute during the Indianapolis group’s annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count.

Cummins kicks off its centennial celebration today with a simple message: “Challenge the Impossible.” That’s what the company has been doing since it was founded in a former warehouse in Columbus, Indiana, in February 1919, employing just four people. And it will be the mindset the now global company of more than 58,000 men and women embraces for the next 100 years.

Fourth quarter revenues of $6.1 billion increased 12 percent from the same quarter in 2017.  Increased truck production in North America and stronger demand in global construction and power generation markets drove the majority of the revenue increase. Currency negatively impacted revenues by 2 percent primarily due to a stronger US dollar.  Fourth quarter sales in North America improved by 17 percent while international revenues increased by 6 percent led by growth in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.

The Innovation Gateway is looking for new ideas that will help Cummins meet its goals around water, waste, energy and recycling.  Those judged to have the best proposals will advance to the gateway finals, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 at the Columbus Commons, 300 Washington St., Columbus, Indiana (U.S.A.).
