Overview:

Over the last 27 years, the QST30 has grown to one of the most successful industrial engines in the world with over 30,000 engines sold. The QST30 was built to handle the toughest environments and is used  globally by many customers in a variety of applications. The QST30 is robust and has proven its durability through thousands of QST30 engines operating in haul trucks, blast hole drills and wheel loaders.

Advancements

  • High Pressure Common Rail Fuel System (HPCR) — System works at pressures of up to 2,000 bar, aiding in cleaner more efficient combustion as a result of more precise control of fueling and timing that also meets the most rigorous emissions regulations.
  • EPA/ARB Tier 4 Final Mobile Off-Highway (MOH) and EU Stage V Non-Road Certified — Meets requirements for both standards, providing the same efficient engine for global distribution, creating lower operating temperatures, smaller cooling systems and better fuel economy with the use of the SCR emission system.

Reliability and durability

  • Long Life Expectancy — In many mining applications the QST30 engine will run for 18,000 to 20,000 hours and reach 500,000 gallons of fuel burned before overhaul.
  • PrevenTech® — Innovative service solution that extends engine life, reduces downtime,
  • and provides remote monitoring and reporting of engine health; mitigating performance impacts and improving productivity.

Robust features

  • Advanced Electronically Controlled, High-Pressure Injection Pumps — Delivers superior availability and uptime.
  • Turbocharger, Fuel Handling and Power Cylinder Advancements — Creates fewer emissions while maintaining the structural integrity, reliability and durability that have won the QST30 its reputation for low cost of operation and exceptional life-cycle value.
  • Longer Service Intervals and Improved Fuel  Economy — Delivers longer service intervals of up to 500 hours and a 5 percent average improvement in fuel economy. At the same time, its Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment technology and hardware offsets Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) consumption and provides higher reliability. The decision to use SCR in high horsepower (HHP) engines, is backed by billions of hours of expertise at Cummins in both exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and SCR technologies for emissions control.
