CUMMINS EURO 6
By using an innovative combination of the latest engine technologies, Cummins’ engines have the capability to easily meet the Euro 6 emission standards. standards by combining advanced combustion techniques with the our latest aftertreatment system, incorporating particulate filtration (DPF) with selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Our highly popular B and L Series are used worldwide in more applications than any other midrange Euro 6 engine, featuring proven cooled exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) and variable geometry turbocharging (VGT).
One of the most comprehensive development projects undertaken at the state-of-the- art European technical centre has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of engine testing hours and millions of road miles to refine and validate the technology. Leveraging our expertise, Cummins has balanced EGR and non-EGR technologies with SCR technologies to reduce greenhouse gas and NOx emissions. Our solution achieves the lowest levels of fuel consumption and Adblue usage, benefiting the environment and minimising operating costs. Cummins also offers alternative fuel, low-carbon solutions with the 9-litre natural gas, spark-ignited engine. It uses CNG, LNG or Biomethane to deliver ultra-clean, efficient power with low noise employing a simple, maintenance-free Three-Way Catalyst.
CUMMINS ENGINES HELP CITIES ACHIEVE CLEAN BUS GOALS
Cummins is pleased to join the Global Industry Partnership on Soot-Free Clean Bus Fleets in partnership with other large global manufacturers to help 20 large global cities address air quality and combat the effects of climate change by making it easier for major cities to purchase buses equipped with low-emissions technologies. As part of the commitment, Cummins will maintain public information on an annual basis to help cities choose the right technology for their needs.
“Soot-free” is defined as including any engine that meets Euro VI norms first established in Europe or EPA 2010 norms first established in the United States, in addition to any diesel engine with a diesel particulate filter, gas-powered engine, or a dedicated electric drive engine. Further reductions in climate impacts of clean buses are achievable with low-carbon fuels and engines that deliver the lowest lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions.
Nearly all of the cities benefitting from this partnership are in countries that do not have rigorous emissions regulations and do not require the sale of soot-free buses today, including: Abidjan, Accra, Addis Ababa, Bangkok, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Dar es Salaam, Dhaka, Istanbul, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Lagos, Lima, Manila, Mexico City, Nairobi, Santiago, Sao Paulo, and Sydney. These cities have also committed to ensuring that low-sulfur fuel is made available and that customers and fleets prioritize the purchase of clean bus technology in order to help manufacturers meet their commitment. We make this commitment publicly and in partnership with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, its Heavy-Duty Diesel Vehicles Initiative, and its implementing partners including the International Council on Clean Transportation, UN Environment, C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, Centro Mario Molina - Chile, committed city officials, and other partners.
