Radiator

The radiator is a component of Cummins Cooling System and is designed to:

  • Dissipate excess heat generated
  • Protect the engine
  • Allow efficient operation of the engine
  • Minimize cooling system noise

The radiator has a special top tank design which helps in deaeration. It provides venting during the initial fill and ensures a positive pressure head on the inlet of the water pump. Radiator cores are provided with fins around tubes to increase the surface area.

The radiator cap maintains positive pressure on the system during operation, elevate the boiling point and prevent a vacuum when system cools down. The radiator fan assists air flow between radiator tubes and engine.

Heat Exchanger

A heat exchanger can be used in place of a radiator, it has a bundle of round or flat tubes in a housing. Raw water flows through the tubes and engine coolant flows around the tube. An expansion tank is fitted above the heat exchanger and has vent connections and a pressure cap. A raw water pump and cooling tower are required.

Hospital Grade Silencers

Hospital grade silencers are fabricated of aluminized steel as a standard material, and coated with high-heat-resistant aluminum paint. This material has maximum operating temperature of 1250 degrees F.
