By partnering with Jamestown Community College (JCC), the company offers accredited classes and hands-on, Cummins-specific training to invest in the future success of employees.

In high school, Uriel did not have the means to attend college, but he knew he wanted to be the first in his family to get there. He thought his only path to a degree was to apply for scholarships and loans or join the military. Then Uriel heard about Project Stepping Stone, sponsored by Cummins, which develops awareness of the engineering field for Latino high school students in the State of Indiana. This week-long program introduced him to his future.

Everyone needs breaks in their workday, even when it’s technically a work night. Working the third shift on a Cummins Inc. engine manufacturing line presents a few hurdles to quality break time. There’s no opportunity to step outdoors for a dose of sunshine, and it can be hard to contribute outside of work to charitable causes.

Remote diagnostics and prognostics monitor and diagnose the condition of an engine in real time using data sent from the asset’s sensors and control modules. This data can be analyzed to identify faults and predict when future faults are likely to occur. Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) was first used in the Royal Air Force in the previous century. The idea was to plan maintenance according to the actual condition of the aircraft, rather than based on regular scheduled maintenance. This technique greatly improved asset availability and reliability.
