Unusual location: Aloha, winter! An island chain in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is one of the world’s most popular vacation spots. With a mild climate featuring a winter high of 78°F and a summer high of 85°F, the tropical paradise is known for its beautiful white beaches, not beautiful white snowflakes.

This includes a partnership with Sonnenwagen to sponsor their team in The World Solar Challenge taking place in Australia starting on 13th and finishing on 20th October. 

Dr. Wayne Eckerle told the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change in Washington, D.C., that there is no one size fits all solution for heavy duty transportation. Policies establishing national standards while maintaining technical flexibility are the best way to promote the innovation needed to ultimately reach net-zero emissions.

Electronics & Controls Engineering Manager Nitisha Manchanda is diligently pushing the boundaries of innovation in the Cummins Electrified Power business segment as both a leader and a mentor.  After earning her bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in 2009, Nitisha began working as a Research and Development Engineer at an analytical instruments company called Scientech. She later moved to London and began working for Johnson Matthey Battery Systems, which was later acquired by Cummins. 

While Tom’s two kids are finishing breakfast, he checks his email, then today’s traffic on his phone. He listens to “Planet Money” while they drive to school before he prepares for the worst part of his commute. Tom hasn’t even reached the office, but he’s already utilized a service three times that most people are oblivious to – and it’s not the internet.

Third quarter revenues of $5.8 billion decreased 3 percent from the same quarter in 2018. Lower demand for trucks and construction equipment drove the majority of the decline.  Sales in North America were flat while international revenues decreased 8 percent. Currency negatively impacted revenues by 1 percent, primarily due to a stronger US dollar.  Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in the third quarter were $958 million, or 16.6 percent of sales, compared to $983 million or 16.5 percent of sales a year ago.  

Students in Area 31’s Automotive Technology Program are pairing with Cummins to allow qualified students the opportunity to participate in the U.S. Department of Labor approved Cummins Youth Apprentice Program. This is a work-based learning program designed to give students experiences in the automotive and diesel fields. In addition to workplace skills and knowledge, the program is designed to help students obtain industry recognized certifications and provide resources to assist high school students in making informed decisions about future career paths.

Matt Cummins and his life-long friend Pete Hazel were outside of Bozeman, Montana, when the odometer on his 1999 Dodge Ram quad cab, long bed with a Cummins 5.9L ticked over 300,000. “That was exciting. It was a big deal that lasted for one mile,” he said.   

      When Steve Corkum Jr. of Yarmouth Sea Products couldn’t find a yard prepared to build 15 lobster boats in a single order, he started his own shipyard. Bayview Marine recently launched the first in the 15-boat series and is well pleased with the initial performance.            

Poland’s impressive history in maritime research will continue to grow with the delivery of two new multipurpose vessels in the second and third quarters of 2020.  Under construction at the noted Remontowa Shipbuiding yard in Gdańsk the two 60 by 12.8-meter vessels will replace two 35-year old vessels working under the direction of the maritime office in Szczecin and Gdynia.
