Cummins distributor Orient Energy Systems (OES) continues to score successes in Pakistan’s fast-growing poultry sector. New power projects have been implemented for Pakistan Poultry Farms, and for Shujabad Group Of Industries. 

The hospital in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, will use three Cummins C1675 D5A diesel generators to supply dependable backup power so patients can get the care they need around-the clock. Cummins has developed an international reputation for its clean, efficient generators, especially in regions that have experienced grid outages in the past. Hospitals from Ghana and South Africa to Qatar, Australia and the United Kingdom have all turned to Cummins technology in recent years to make certain their operations continue 24 hours a day, seven days a week – no matter what happens to the grid.

Hurricane Hunters gather information about tropical storms and hurricanes to help meteorologists more accurately forecast the paths of these dangerous storms. In 2017, the Hurricane Hunters flew more than 800 hours during 90+ missions and are preparing for another busy hurricane season in 2018. These Hurricane Hunter aircrafts were one of the biggest attractions at last week’s Hurricane Awareness Tour (HAT) – an annual event targeting hurricane prone coastal and inland cities.

Early this month, GILLIG LLC and Cummins announced a new electrified power partnership at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) show in Atlanta, Georgia (USA). The technical collaboration work focuses on integrating and optimizing new battery electric technology offered by Cummins that will soon power GILLIG zero-emissions transit buses. GILLIG is the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in the United States.

Anna Dibble, Plant Manager at Cummins' Jamestown Engine Plant, has an impressive 26 years of service at Cummins. We recently sat down with Anna to ask about her career at Cummins. My road trip started on a sunny day outside Plant 1 in Columbus, Indiana - the location of Cummins’ Headquarters. I packed up all my stuff for my first camping adventure since I was a kid, and headed west. At 5640 lbs fully loaded and with the aerodynamics of a small tool shed, the R2.8 powered Landrover Discovery 1 was easily able to cruise at 70 mph across the country, and get 17 mpg while doing it.  

This week, the Cummins Repower team headed to Overland Expo West 2018. We packed up our vehicles and started our engines and made the 1,700 mile journey from Columbus, Indiana to Flagstaff, Arizona. Our Cummins R2.8 Turbo Diesel repowered Jeep Wrangler TJ and Land Rover Discovery 1 made the trip with ease and arrived at the expo showgrounds Thursday afternoon. We were excited with the amount of Cummins powered Overlanding rigs that greeted us when we entered the expo for show set up.

Cummins has supplied a power solution based around four of its 630 kVA generator sets to Standard Chartered Bank in Ghana. The system will provide the bank’s head office in Accra with standby power whenever interruptions to the grid supply require it.
