Frost & Sullivan, a global research and consulting firm, has awarded Cummins and Connected Diagnostics its prestigious 2017 North American Customer Value Leadership Award for “exceptional customer service.”

“Can you do a project to look at barriers and enablers to have more women in the engineering function?” That was the question posed to Anne McLaren and other Cummins engineers dedicated to improving the representation of technical women at Cummins. That project led to the Cummins Technical Women’s Initiative, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2017. The goals of this initiative are to attract, develop, and retain technical women at all levels and in all regions, and to have technical women equally represented across all levels of leadership.

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) has been awarded Heavy-Duty Trucking’s Top 20 award for its X12 engine platform, to be available this year. This award signifies the innovation that delivers the lightest heavy-duty engine in North America. The engine weight of just 2,050 lbs was achieved by eliminating unnecessary mass without compromising performance.  Delivering up to 500 hp (373 kW), the X12 has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any heavy-duty engine from 10 liters to 16 liters in size.

Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger will participate in a panel discussion on trade and American competitiveness Tuesday in Washington, D.C. (U.S.A.) that will be live-streamed online. The hour-long panel, which starts at 9 a.m. (March 20), includes U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, who will also make keynote remarks at the event.

Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger today argued forcefully for free trade, maintaining tariffs and other protectionist steps won’t serve American workers in the long run. “I know that Cummins and our 2,500 U.S. suppliers – small, medium or large – we can compete with anyone,” Linebarger said during a panel discussion on trade and American competitiveness sponsored by the Business Roundtable and Farmers for Free Trade. “I know we can. And I just want the chance to do it.”
