Here are five things to remember:
1.WHILE ELECTRIFICATION HAS TREMENDOUS PROMISE, IT’S NOT THE ANSWER FOR EVERYONE RIGHT NOW
That’s why Cummins has pledged to first bring to market an all-electric powertrain for buses and delivery vehicles by 2019. We believe electric vehicles make the most sense in urban areas where the drive ranges are shorter and the vehicles can more easily be recharged. Many cities around the world are looking at electrification as a means to reduce pollution and greenhouse gases (GHGs).
In 2017, Cummins hit a number of important milestones in producing the cleanest, most fuel efficient products. Here’s a quick look at five key ones:
Cummins today announced a clean diesel repower initiative to replace the engine and exhaust aftertreatment in older buses with a fully certified, very low emissions Euro VI system. The repower will enable pre-Euro VI legacy buses in London fleets to continue operating when the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) takes effect in April 2019, improving the air quality of the capital and lowering the carbon footprint of the fleet.
Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger said in an interview with POLITICO that the benefits to business of the tax cuts recently passed by the U.S. House and Senate could be offset by losses if President Trump pulls the country out of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Cummins received high marks in a trio of rankings released in December.
The company finished 25th in Newsweek’s 2017 Green Ranking of U.S. companies, 45th on the Forbes-JUST Capital list of the Just 100: America's Best Corporate Citizens, and 94th in the Wall Street Journal’s Management Top 250, all released separately.
Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) today announced that Ed Pence, Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, is retiring after 36 years with the company, which included a variety of leadership roles.
“Throughout Ed’s tenure, he was committed to excellence and success in all arenas – for our customers, our employees and our communities,” Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger and President and COO Rich Freeland said in a joint email to Cummins’ more than 55,000 employees.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will soon begin an important step toward its goal of a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2030. Starting in early 2018, Metro will begin taking delivery of up to 395 Cummins Westport L9N natural gas engines.
