On June 23rd, Cummins Inc. (CMI) is proud to recognize International Women in Engineering Day (INWED). In support of the day, the company hopes to raise the profile of women engineers and encourage more people to consider engineering as a profession for all. 

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is celebrated on June 23 every year to honor the exceptional achievements of women engineers worldwide. The theme for 2022 celebrates inventors and innovators. In honor of INWED, we spoke to Magdolin Mikhail, Cummins Business Manager for New Power Business - Hydrogen Technology, to hear about her journey as a woman in engineering, a usually male dominated environment.

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) built an Acoustical Technology Center (ATC) at its Power System plant in Fridley, Minnesota in 2011. The state-of-the-art facility gives Cummins and its customers, the ability to test product noise levels to deliver the quietest power generation products on the planet.    Noise emission regulations around the world require power solutions of all shapes and sizes to not exceed certain noise thresholds.  And, in order to pass those rigorous acoustic requirements, highly scientific and precise testing is essential.

Hyliion Holdings Corp. (NYSE: HYLN) (“Hyliion”), a leader in electrified powertrain solutions for Class 8 semi-trucks, and Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) (“Cummins”), a global power solutions provider, today announced the two companies are joining forces to optimize the Cummins natural gas engine as the generator for the Hypertruck ERX powertrain. 

Today, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI), a global power technology leader and Komatsu Ltd., a global provider of equipment and services for the construction and mining industries, have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the development of zero-emissions haulage equipment. Building on a legacy of diesel engine partnership across a wide variety of mining and construction equipment, Cummins and Komatsu will initially focus on zero emissions power technologies including hydrogen fuel cell solutions for large mining haul truck applications.    

Today, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) announced a change in the leadership of the company’s Power Systems segment, one of the company’s five business segments.  Norbert Nusterer, Vice President and President of Power Systems, has made the decision to leave Cummins after 25 years with the company. Jenny Bush, who is currently Vice President, Cummins Sales and Service – North America, will assume the role of President - Power Systems effective upon Norbert’s departure from that role on August 1.

Cummins has a long history of supporting EPA’s authority to regulate our products for pollution and carbon emissions. We, along with several industry partners, signed an Amicus Brief in the West Virginia v. EPA case supporting this authority for stationary sources. EPA’s nation-wide air regulations are critical to maintain business certainty and drive innovation  in the commercial vehicle sector. We look forward to working with EPA on a Phase 3 fuel efficiency rule for trucks that is tough, clear and enforceable, just like we did for the Phase 1 and 2 rules.
