More than 8,600 people traveled to Long Beach, California to attend the recent Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, North America’s largest advanced transportation technology and clean fleet event. Major retailers were in attendance looking to decarbonize their fleets, gaining insight into the latest developments, policies, and technologies in clean transportation solutions. 

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) has sold the equipment the company used to make masks for employees during the pandemic to a Black-owned company in Indianapolis. The company, Team Cruiser, plans on creating a disability-friendly employer producing masks beyond the immediate response to the pandemic.

Cummins Inc. has long demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). Company founder J. Irwin Miller marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. and contributed to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Cummins severed business with South Africa in a stance against apartheid in the 1980s and has a history of opposing state constitutions banning gay marriage.

With Andretti at the wheel, the only diesel-powered car to set pole at the Indianapolis 500 will once again make history around the track.

Born in the UK, Rohan started his Cummins career in the US. “I was first introduced to Cummins in 2017 at a National Association of Black Accountants recruiting event in New Orleans. I actually went somewhere else for my internship and after I graduated, I was looking for another role when I came across Cummins again.” Rohan’s introduction to Cummins at this event stuck with him and when they crossed paths again, Rohan was excited to accept a position and continue living in the U.S.

The first phases of greenhouse gas regulations for commercial vehicles focused on tailpipe emissions, and this perspective brought the industry many efficiency improvements. With the advent of low to zero carbon fuels and new power sources, differences in GHG emissions are becoming more difficult to assess. One example is battery electric powertrains which get their energy from charging via the electric grid.

Cummins Turbo Technologies (CTT) and the Holset brand celebrate their 70th anniversary this year, a significant milestone illustrating their collaborative and innovative approach. Incorporated in 1952 as Holset Engineering Co Ltd, it was acquired by Cummins Inc. in 1973, and rebranded as Cummins Turbo Technologies in 2006.
