Wrapped in luxury amid the waves gently lapping the hull of the Menorquin 68 is a sensual experience at sea. Three lovely staterooms with four berths encourage sleeping in just a little bit longer.
What compelled you to work for New Power when you were so close to retirement?
I’ve been an engineer for over 30 years and worked at Cummins for over nine. I was ready to retire in the summer of 2019 and go explore the U.K. with my husband. We had it all planned out, but then I met Kendra Eads, New Power’s Americas and Europe Engineer Lead. She knocked on that figurative door I was about to walk out of and told me about the newly acquired battery team located in Milton Keynes, U.K. – right where we planned to live – and how they could use my expertise.
This year, we’re recognizing Kristen Bridgeman, Cummins Product Development Excellence Director, and Niyati Tamaskar, Cummins Electrical and Computer Engineer, who were recently named as “Women Engineers You Should Know” by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) for 2021. Excerpts from the Spring 2021 issue of SWE Magazine appear below, with permission from SWE.
Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) today released the company's 18th annual Sustainability Progress Report, including for the first time the racial and ethnic makeup of Cummins' U.S. workforce in addition to special reports on the company's response to COVID-19 and its pursuit of an innovation-focused path to carbon neutrality.
Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is using its PrevenTech® solution to close the distance between mining machinery and the support that keeps it running.
PrevenTech® is a unique platform that gives mining operators clearer sight of the state of their machinery wherever it’s deployed. It’s another way Cummins is showing their commitment to supplying, servicing and supporting the mining industry around the globe, no matter how remote the sites may be.
The report includes a number of company firsts and records in 2020, including a record number of global patents, a record recycling rate, a record low health and safety Incidence Rate, the first virtual Hydrogen Day and the company’s key role in the first hydrogen-powered passenger train. While COVID-19 left an indelible mark on the company, it did not define Cummins in 2020.
