Big news at the recent Land Forces Expo in Melbourne was the unveiling of ATLAS, an uncrewed 8x8 ground combat vehicle developed by BAE Systems Australia and powered by Cummins’ ISB 6.7-litre engine rated at 185 hp.
Standing for Autonomous Tactical Light Armour System, ATLAS is designed to give military commanders an added tactical option while keeping soldiers out of harm’s way through proven autonomous technologies.
The buzz at Australian marine engineering company Birdon at the recent Land Forces Expo in Melbourne was its success in being named preferred designer for the Australian Army’s Landing Craft Medium capability.
The company’s design is the basis of an 18-vessel order placed by the Army. On board are four 1600 hp Cummins QSK38 propulsion engines and four Cummins QSB7 generator sets.
