The company was identified as a U.S. leader for the quality of climate change related information that it has disclosed to investors and the global marketplace through CDP, the international not-for-profit working to promote sustainable economies. The CDP was formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project.

Drivers have relied on Citizen’s Band (CB) radio for decades to share information and socialize while on the road. While the way drivers communicate with each other has changed thanks to cell phones, CB culture is historically a huge part of the trucking industry.

Today, we’re talking with Fred Phillips, a Canadian Freightways driver out of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Where others saw a decaying, 2,400-acre ammunition plant, closed for nearly 40 years, Cummins’ Prad Pathirana saw an opportunity to introduce STEM to public school students. And that’s precisely what’s happening now that the former plant, near Cummins Power Generation in the Twin Cities (Minnesota) north metro, was removed in 2015 from the Superfund list of the United States’ worst environmental sites.

The largest solar array at a Cummins facility is scheduled to be completed in April at the Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Company Ltd. (BFCEC) in China, eliminating an estimated 3,200 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year or about 13 percent of BFCEC’s overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The initiative will also help with China’s national drive to reduce air pollution, cutting back what BFCEC consumes from the grid, which is largely fueled by coal-fired power plants.
