After driving most of the more than 76,000 miles covered during Cummins Redefining Tour, Mike Carlson said he’ll never think about fuel economy in quite the same way. Hauling just over 60,000 pounds as part of the 36-city tour across North America to demonstrate some of the company’s latest technology, Carlson said he frequently got better than 9 miles per gallon in the tractor-trailer he drove for most of the tour while averaging better than 8 miles-per-gallon over the entire trip.

Cummins Power Generation in South Africa has partnered with a school in the disadvantaged Ivory Park area of Johannesburg to deliver a Careers Day for 370 students. A team of 25 Cummins personnel, led by Alok Joshi, Director of Power Generation Business, Africa, presented career options in engineering, science, human resources, law, logistics, marketing, education, basic skills, finance, engineering and technical apprenticeships.

This summer, Cummins’ coast-to-coast Redefining Efficiency Tour across North America sparked conversation about how we can continue working with our customers to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In order to pinpoint the areas requiring focus, we must measure our overall efforts. Our company’s recent voluntary report to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an effort to encourage greater public environmental reporting and drive change, is one means by which we report this information.

For the eleventh straight year, Cummins has been awarded a perfect score in the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The ratings were announced by HRC, the largest U.S. civil rights organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees, which has more than 1.5 million members and supporters.
