On National Women in Engineering Day, held June 23 in the United Kingdom, employees from Cummins Power Generation (CPG) stayed busy by working across sites in Kent, Peterborough and Stamford, England in support of the Cummins Women in Technology (CWiT) forum, an initiative championed by Cummins’ Chief Technical Officer, John Wall. Their aim? To encourage careers in STEM and promote opportunities for women in engineering.
What once took shape as science fiction concept in books and movies, now riddles its way into day-to-day life: the Internet of Things (IoT). In the Internet’s short history, technology has leapt from clunky computers to wearable technologies like the iWatch, creating the web of connected “things.”
These ever-changing technologies not only bemuse the modern world but also give promise of a longer life filled with conveniences. With each connected thing, the IoT technologies collect and communicate data—lots and lots of data.
When customer feedback pointed to an inadequate process for ordering replacement turbo parts, Gerben Van De Biezen, Regional Sales Manager in Europe, formed a team to streamline the process.
The Net Promoter System (NPS) showed that Cummins customers felt their requests for Vehicle Off Road (VOR) orders weren’t being answered with enough urgency; they expected an estimate on lead-time and cost within 30 minutes of their request, but weren’t getting it.

October may seem far away, but it’s never too early to make time for driver safety. The Cummins Corporate Health & Safety team will be hosting the second annual Road Safety Expo on Saturday, October 24. The event will take place at the Dorel Juvenile Group in Columbus, Indiana.
The Corporate Health & Safety team has partnered up with multiple local businesses and nonprofit organizations for this event. A few of the organizations that will be present include: Miles Ahead Motoring School, the American Trucking Associations and the Juvenile Diabetes No Limits Foundation.
Our trip through Canada has come to an end this week. From Toronto to Winnipeg, across to Edmonton, and through the mountains to Vancouver – the entire experience was unmatched. Cummins Western Canada hosted their event in Edmonton and they did not hold back. More than 400 customers and attendees came out to see Cummins products in action while enjoying some mid-summer sun, local grilling expertise, live music and even an ice cream truck. While we loved our time in Edmonton, and couldn’t wait to take the trucks through the Canadian Rockies on our way to Vancouver.
