On Jan. 27, 2015, Chongqing Cummins Engine Company (CCEC), a joint venture between Cummins and Chongqing Machinery and Electric Co., Ltd, broke ground on its new plant in Chongqing, China. Covering approximately 66 acres, the new facility will include a tech center dedicated to High Horsepower (HHP) engine engineering, as well as a new engine manufacturing plant. Construction on the tech center is expected to be finalized in 2016, and the plant is expected to go into production in 2018.

Providing students the opportunity to learn in clean, functional and secure classrooms is considered the norm in many schools around the world. But for students and instructors at Eko Junior College in Lagos, Nigeria, this has, traditionally, been far from the truth. Employees from Cummins West Africa Limited (CWAL), the Cummins distributor based in Nigeria, recently partnered with the school governing body to unleash the "Power of Cummins" and improve the lives of scholars and teachers through a major renovation project.

Cummins was recently featured in a local news story on ABC 7 Chicago, highlighting its contract with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and the modernization of the CTA bus fleet. In 2012, Cummins NPower was awarded a contract by the CTA to provide a complete overhaul to 629 transit buses. In addition, Cummins NPower serves as a subcontractor for New Flyer, a bus Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), for an additional 400 buses.

Participation increased in several key metrics in 2014 for community service programs at Cummins as employees worked to build stronger communities all over the world. Involvement was up 18 percent in the Company’s Environmental Challenge, five percent in Cummins’ Every Employee Every Community (EEEC) program and employee giving was up about four percent for the United Way in North America – all key performance indicators for community engagement at the Company.

The checkered flag has dropped on the 2015 edition of the most famous endurance rally in the world, and all three Cummins ISZ13-powered Team Ginaf Rally Power trucks crossed the finish line in Buenos Aires after enduring more than 5,500 grueling miles across Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.

Black History Month, celebrated annually in the United States and Canada throughout the month of February, is a time for recognizing the central role of African-Americans in history. At Cummins, it's also about highlighting the significance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In honor of Black History month, several Cummins employees were invited to share their personal stories on the blog over at the Cummins Careers website, helping others understand what the month represents, as well as the importance of an inclusive workplace.

The Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) is the largest annual heavy-duty trucking industry event in the world.
