Dempsey Becker, a five-year-old boy living in Minneapolis, MN (USA), relies on toys for more than just entertainment.  He uses them as a critical part of his occupational therapy at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and resource center for individuals with disabilities and complex or chronic medical issues. 

This year marks the ninth Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), an annual observance dedicated to encouraging the world to talk, think and learn about digital access, inclusion and people with different disabilities. 

Hospitals cannot lose power, semi-trucks cannot break down and first-responder vehicles need to be ready for any call. In all of these scenarios, customers depend on Cummins powered products to maintain the world’s most essential functions. There is no time for error or malfunction.

Adrie and Bianca van Leeuwen are the second generation of their family operating the inland river boat Hermina from their base in the Netherlands. The boat operates year round with a crew of five and, on occasion, paying guests who enjoy a unique river experience. In recent times the 110-meter long Hermina and her 76.5-meter barge are primarily transporting shipping containers. With a beam of 11.4 meters the Hermina routinely pushes her barge, which is only slightly wider.

Cruise ships come in all sizes from multi-thousands of passengers to a few dozen. But they divide into two general groups. The big mega ships with endless entertainment onboard and the more rugged small expedition cruisers capable of getting into the interesting nooks and crannies of a coast.

Summer is right around the corner. Many of us have been yearning for the long days, warmer weather and time spent on the water. Whether you’re headed out in your pontoon on the lake, fishing boat in the gulf, or sailboat on the ocean, safe boating starts on shore.  

Finding ways to keep kids safely apart replaced activities bringing them together. Distance learning replaced in-person visits by Cummins employees and others to talk about the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math. Masks and gloves replaced hugs and high fives. But one thing didn’t change: the critical role the Club plays in the community.

Prior to joining Cummins as a telecommunications manager, Layton worked in the medical gas testing industry, ensuring that oxygen and other essential gases needed in hospital intensive care units were up to standards. When the pandemic escalated in the U.K., Layton was sought after by contacts from his medical gas testing days to help as a volunteer testing the medical gases at some locations including the Nightingale Hospital at ExCeL London.

Cummins plant in Darlington, UK has sustained engine and aftertreatment production through the challenging COVID-19 situation, keeping customers working.   One recent example is with strategic partner CLAAS, a leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment in Germany.  CLAAS is deemed to be a critical supplier by their government, given the importance of their products in supporting the food chain.

When looking to describe our electrified power applications, many adjectives come to mind, including durable, reliable, safe, and ...beautiful?
