Cummins and Komatsu strengthen shared commitment to communities

At Cummins, strengthening communities is part of our longstanding commitment to helping address important societal challenges around the world. Partnerships play an important role in this work.

Since 2015, Cummins and Komatsu have joined together to address community needs and help communities thrive. Earlier this year, Cummins and Komatsu renewed their global corporate social responsibility agreement. The agreement was signed by Jennifer Rumsey, Chair and CEO of Cummins Inc., and Takuya Imayoshi, President and CEO of Komatsu Ltd., reaffirming the companies' shared commitment to creating positive change in the communities where their employees live and work.

A cornerstone of our collaboration has been Cummins TEC: Technical Education for Communities, a global technical education and workforce development program that helps equip students with the skills needed for in-demand technical careers. More than 1,200 students have graduated from Cummins TEC programs in collaboration with Komatsu, helping strengthen local talent pipelines and prepare future generations for technical careers.

To celebrate the renewal of the agreement, employees from both companies joined volunteer activities in Brisbane, Australia, and Peoria, Illinois. In Brisbane, employees partnered with Landcare Australia to support environmental restoration efforts at Oxley Creek. Volunteers planted trees and contributed to conservation activities that help improve local ecosystems and support a more sustainable future. 

In Peoria, employees volunteered with Midwest Food Bank to support hunger relief and disaster response efforts. The teams packed more than 23,000 Tender Mercies meals for local food pantries and helped prepare supplies for disaster relief cleanup buckets that will assist communities facing future emergencies.

These volunteer activities reflect the shared values that have guided Cummins and Komatsu for more than a decade. Through technical education initiatives and employee volunteerism, the companies continue to work together to support communities around the world.
