Genuine Cummins Parts
Cummins parts perform better and last longer. When it comes to productivity, efficiency, uptime and profitability, there is a genuine difference.
The Genuine Cummins Difference
There’s a genuine difference in the performance, reliability, durability and value of engine parts. That’s why it always pays to go with the best. The Genuine Cummins Parts that you buy from a Cummins distributor or authorized dealer are built to our exact standards, meeting or exceeding original specifications.
Genuine Cummins Parts come with our comprehensive parts warranty, ensuring financial protection and peace of mind that we are always here to support you.
The difference between a Genuine Cummins Part and a non-genuine part isn’t always easy to see. It can be something as small as a ring gap that’s a couple of millimeters too wide on a non-genuine part. In a Cummins engine, that small difference could result in less power, insufficient lubrication, poor fuel economy, premature wear and even catastrophic engine failure.
New Cummins engines are built with remanufacturing in mind, enabling them to have a long and fuel-efficient life. Up to 85 percent of an engine can be remanufactured, and Cummins engines are built to be remanufactured multiple times. Cummins ReCon parts and engines have gone through disassembly, inspection, cleaning, calibration and testing to ensure they meet the same specifications as new Cummins parts or engines.
Why Buy ReCon?
- A lower cost option to buying new
- The same performance, durability, and reliability as new
- You need a reliable engine fast
The Genuine Difference
Non-genuine overhaul kit components tested through lab analysis and destructive testing
Non-genuine parts met all of Cummins design specifications
years of perfecting the design and manufacturing of Genuine Cummins Parts
Non-genuine parts put to the test
Cummins engineers conducted lab analysis and destructive testing on over 300 non-genuine overhaul kit components for Cummins on-highway engines, including pistons, piston rings, piston pins, cylinder liners, main bearings, connecting rod bearings, head gaskets and injectors. Of the over 300 non-genuine parts tested, none met all of Cummins' design specifications.
| Part tested | Dimensional testing | Material testing |
|---|---|---|
| Piston | FAILED | FAILED |
| Oil ring | FAILED | FAILED |
| Retaining ring | FAILED | ADEQUATE |
| Piston pin | FAILED | FAILED |
| Cylinder liner | FAILED | FAILED |
| Connecting rod bearing | FAILED | FAILED |
| Main bearing | FAILED | FAILED |
| Thrust bearing | FAILED | FAILED |
| Cylinder head gasket | FAILED | FAILED |
| Injector | FAILED | FAILED |
Of the over 300 non-genuine parts tested, none met all of Cummins' design specifications, and most failed in both the dimensional and material testing categories. Test results marked as “adequate” marginally met Cummins design intent, indicating that it loosely met some of Cummins' design specifications, but not all of them.
Saving a little time upfront could ultimately cost you time and money
