Community Involvement Teams (CIT) around the globe serve as the structure through which Cummins carries out its community involvement initiatives. The CITs serve as liaisons to their communities and are the primary coordinators for all community involvement activities, including the Every Employee Every Community program (EEEC), Community Development Grants and community-focused Six Sigma projects. EEEC is a global program that offers every employee the opportunity to take part in a half day of community service on company time.
Cummins and its employees have long partnered with the United Way to help strengthen communities across the United States. The Company’ s decision in 2008 to increase its commitment by becoming a United Way Corporate Leader is consistent with its belief that a company is only as healthy as the communities in which it does business. In the United States, Cummins employees pledged over $2 million in their United Way campaigns in 2008, allowing more than $4 million to flow into our U.S. communities with the dollar-for-dollar match from the Cummins Foundation.
